VARZ TCG is a hex-based tactical trading card game set in a Tokyo transformed by supernatural lands, mysterious portals, and beings born from modern Japanese culture.
It combines the deck-building choices of a trading card game with the positional decisions of a tactical board game. The card in your hand matters—but so does the hex where you play it.

A Card Game Born from Modern Japanese Culture
VARZ draws inspiration from the stories that exist beneath the surface of everyday Japan: urban legends passed between students, creatures remembered from folklore, strange rituals, local superstitions, and rumors that feel almost believable after midnight.
These ideas are not used only as decoration. They shape the characters, cards, environments, and conflicts of the game.
A familiar street can become a cursed land. A rumor can take physical form. A Hero can stand at the center of a battle between realities.
In VARZ, players do not simply collect references to Japanese culture. They enter a world where those references have become active forces.
Position Is Part of Your Strategy
Most card games ask one central question: Which card should I play?
VARZ adds another: Where should I play it?
Units are placed and moved across a hex-based battlefield. Distance, adjacency, blocked routes, attack angles, and control of important spaces can change the value of every card.
A powerful Spil may be ineffective in the wrong position. A smaller unit can become decisive when it protects a Portal, blocks a route, or creates the opening your Hero needs.
This makes each match feel like a battle that develops on the table, not only inside the deck.

Heroes, Spils, and Portals
Each player enters the battlefield with a Hero and commands supernatural units known as Spils.
Your Hero is more than a portrait or identity card. It represents your presence on the battlefield and helps define how your strategy develops. Spils occupy the land, fight enemy units, protect important positions, and pressure opposing Portals.
Portals create another layer of tension. Players must defend their own route into the unknown while looking for the right moment to break through the opponent’s defenses.
Because VARZ offers more than one path to victory, players must constantly decide whether to attack directly, control the land, protect their position, or create pressure somewhere else.
A World Designed to Grow
VARZ is being developed as more than a single card set.
The world can expand through new Japanese legends, new regions, new Heroes, and new interpretations of familiar stories. The tactical system also creates space for cards that interact with movement, position, terrain, Portals, and the state of the battlefield in new ways.
The official website will continue to grow alongside the game, with card information, rules, articles, events, match tools, and community features.
VARZ is still being shaped through testing and feedback. The players joining now are not only discovering the game—they are helping define what it becomes.
